The Three C’s; Canker Sores, Cold Sores, and Cavities

Dec 12, 2013

Sometimes, unpleasant problems in your mouth are unavoidable. There are a lot of little things that can really irritate someone and make daily routines and habits uncomfortable. Three of those things, canker sores, cold sores, and cavities, all would fall under the category of “irritating” and sometimes even painful.  But what are they?

1. Canker Sore

A canker sore is a painful, open sore in the mouth.  There is no cure for a canker sore, so you usually just have to wait it out. Avoid foods that irritate your mouth and anything else you think might be contributing to the problem.

2. Cold Sore

Cold sores, sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. They are part of the herpes virus and usually take a few days to disappear.

3. Cavities

Cavities are one of the biggest problems and health concerns among children in our society.  With all the sugary food that kids consume, cavities have become somewhat of an epidemic in pediatric dental clinics. Cavities need to be filled by a dentist and that filling needs to happen right away

If any of these problems sound familiar to you, or you would like more information on how to avoid irritations similar to them, talk with a medical professional today. If you are looking to schedule an appointment in the Austin area, contact Lifetime Smiles Pediatric Dentistry.
